Now Energy is front and center. And Ben Franklin is supporting and building the region's emerging energy sector...an opportunity to capture all of the technology strengths and focus them on new energy products, new industries and new economic growth.

Capital, Knowledge and Networks to Grow Greater Philadelphia's Energy Sector.

We're helping to do this by:

1. Providing up to $750,000 in seed and early-stage investment capital to promising alternative energy and clean technology entrepreneurs and companies- critical start-up capital with a focus on commercializing new products. Investment allows companies to improve technology, management and marketing, and to reduce development risks.


2. Attracting co-investors to jump into this emerging field, and increasing available funding for entrepreneurs, enterprises and researchers-Ben Franklin holds annual Capital Connect company showcases, where key clients network with venture capital and angel investors from Pennsylvania and beyond.


3. Solving client product development and commercialization challenges by funding and facilitating Technology Commercialization Engagements with the university, government and private partners that comprise our 20+ member Technology Commercialization Network-Projects include developing scalable prototypes, field testing and product validation.


4. Creating research and development partnerships and consortia among companies, universities, government and industrial partners to take energy technology challenges.


5. Providing comprehensive client management and growth services to entrepreneurs and enterprises so they reach the marketplace faster-Programs include market access services to develop business relationships, C-level business management support, and marketing consultation. Clients are also provided access to our Energy Asset Map of regional resources, accelerating regional collaboration, business relocation, and investment.


6. Conveying and assisting the development of federal and state funding proposals for clients and regional partners.


7. Developing extensive outreach and communication strategies to inform and engage the energy-sector community, including minority, women and disadvantaged entrepreneurs and enterprises-Components include regional meetings, large-scale symposia, web-based communities, and networking tools.


8. Leveraging the region's assents to create an Energy Cluster with dynamic "anchor" projects, attracting new companies, investments and partnerships.
