Philadelphia to receive $14,108,700 in funding from the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act to support energy efficiency and conservation activities.
From this funding, $500,000 will be available for the Greenworks Pilot Energy Technology Fund, which will be used by PIDC to make grants available to businesses in Philadelphia for the development of an energy efficiency technology industry.
Ben Franklin is working with PIDC on the development of this program.

The U.S. Department of Energy has awarded funding for a Mid-Atlantic Clean Energy Applications Center (CEAC) headquartered at The Navy Yard. The project proposal was led by Penn State College of Engineering with support from Ben Franklin, the Philadelphia Industrial Development Corporation (PIDC), DVIRC and the U.S. Navy. The national CEAC program seeks to develop clean energy systems as solutions to the energy issue facing our nation.

MaxPower Inc. of Harleysville, Pennsylvania, has been preliminarily awarded up to $500,000 for the U.S. Department of Energy (DOE)to further develop a battery management system for lithium-ion batteries. The project is part of the DOE's Vehicle Technologies Program, which seeks to develop high-efficiency electric drive vehicle battery technologies.
